Another Lovely Lady – Romantic Portraiture for Women, Dallas

How can one person be so blessed?  This young woman is such a special person in my life!  I’ve introduced you before to Amy, my wonderful senior-turned-mentee / assistant / honorary daughter!  She is as sweet as they come, and as lovely.  The other night, she came over to try out one of my lenses.  I created a couple of shots of her before my client arrived, then Amy shot alongside and assisted me.  She’s growing so quickly in her skills!  I love mentoring her!

Happy Mother’s Day! A Tribute to My Own Wonderful Mother

Today I celebrate someone who has been quite the opposite of a “little thing” in my life.  She’s been a huge influence and one of the greatest blessings I could ask for!  My mom is strong in the gentlest of ways.  She’s cheerful, vivacious, and adventurous.  She’s loving, giving and patient.  She’s hopeful, joyful, and just a lot of fun to be around.  She’s taught me so much.  My daughter often exclaims, “Oh, my goodness!  You sound JUST like Memaw!”  And I take that as the highest compliment!

Happy Mother’s Day, Mother!  I love you!

Take Time To Enjoy the Little Things – Continued

Today has been an exciting day in our home!  Our two little cardinals are on the verge of leaving the nest.  We watched the parents take one of the little ones out for his first flight.  I’d never witnessed this before!  It was as if the daddy encouraged his young chick, talking to him the entire time.  The smaller baby waited in the nest, then decided it was time to hop out of it and wait for his turn!  What a pleasure it’s been to watch this crimson family (or crimson-to-be!) as they have grown.  I’ve grown accustomed to their sweet peep-peep throughout the day.  I hope they’ll stay close by!

Another “Little Pleasure” with a Great Big Taste – Fine Art Photography, Allen, Texas

I was enjoying the company of a dear friend and perusing the shops of Watters Creek in Allen recently.  So many places there that make my heart -and my tastebuds – happy!  We wandered into Sublime Chocolate, and I knew I needed to photograph these treats for my blog!  (Next time YOU’RE looking for an excuse to buy lovely chocolate, consider the need for a great blog post or Pinterest pin!)

Sublime Chocolate is not a franchise.  This is the one and only store, and they make all their chocolates by hand, using the best ingredients available.  Flavors range from more traditional (caramel and raspberry) to exotic, including lavender, Turkish coffee, cayenne, and even curry!  If I could only insert the smell and taste into my blog post!  But we’ll have to settle for images.  I’ll leave the tasting up to you!

Light, Glorious Light! – Fine Art & Portraiture, Dallas, Texas

Oh, how I love light!  My children, poor things, have had to put up with my frequent exclamations, “Oh, look at that LIGHT!  Isn’t it beautiful how those leaves are backlit?”  “Look at those shadows formed by that railing….”  etc., etc….. and ETC.!   It’s become a bit of a family joke.  That’s okay.  Photography has truly opened my eyes in a new and deeper way to the beauty around me.  Of course, the very roots of the word mean “writing with light.”  Oh, the stories light can tell!
The other night I was on our back deck reading.  I looked up to see my clematis vine, climbing high overhead, lit by the sliver of light that still managed to creep over the rooftop.  And so today’s photograph was born.

Sunkissed Vine
